16th May 2012 - Saudi ban on women drivers remains

Despite the efforts of some women to overturn the ban, Saudi Arabia remains the only country where women are not permitted to drive. The ban forms part of the Kingdom's complex cultural and social mores (enforced by conservative clerics and other conservatives within Saudi society including some women) which denies women the right to full individuality.
