The Daily Telegraph reports that Al Qaeda is building its strength in Yemen, the ancestral home of Osama bin Laden. "Said al-Jemhi, a Yemeni activist, cautions that "one must never forget that Al-Qaeda has its origins in Yemen. "The country has been a refuge, even if only temporarily, for Arab fighters returning victorious from the jihad against the (Soviets) in the 1980s." The author suggests that Al Qaeda is secretly rebuilding itself, with a view to destabilising its northern neighbour.
