11th September 2009 - US rejects Iran nuclear proposals (BBC)


The U.S. says it remains unhappy with Iran's latest proposals to resolve the deadlock over its nuclear programme, arguing that it fails to provide for the suspension of Iran's uranium enrichment programme which the United States is concerned could be used for military purposes. Russia's response the the Iranian proposals has been more positive. It would seem that sanctions against Iran would be unlikely to obtain Security Council support.
