22nd August 2009 - Muslims begin Ramadan holy month (BBC)

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, President Barack Obama has reiterated his wish to build a new partnership with the Muslim world. He placed emphasis on the common ground between the West and Islam and suggested that Ramadan should remind us "of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam's role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings".
