While President Obama has made it clear he is seeking a comprehensive solution to the Arab/Israeli conlfict and the resolution of tensions generally in the region, including those between Israel and Saudi Arabia and Israel and Syria, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has set preconditions for a Palestinian state which preclude any progress. "In remarks to his cabinet Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeated his conditions for Palestinian statehood. He said such a state must be demilitarized, Palestinians would have to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and Palestinian refugees would be resettled outside Israel."
