This article considers Robert Lacey's report on the Saudi Government's policy of 'soft-policing' and gentle rehabilitation for extremists who have been returned from Guantanamo Bay or who have been arrested in the Kingdom. According ot one journalist: "On arrival, each prisoner is given a suitcase filled with gifts: clothes, a digital watch, school supplies and toiletries. Inmates are encouraged to ask for their favorite foods (Twix and Snickers candy bars are frequent requests). Volleyball nets, PlayStation games and Ping-Pong and football tables are all provided."
