11th March 2009 - Outspoken former ambassador quits analyst post (IHT)

Charles Freeman, former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and newly appointed chairman of the US National Intelligence Council, has felt compelled to resign. In his online statement, Freeman criticises the dishonourable tactices of the Israeli lobby. No-one who opposes their views can be allowed to hold an office which might challenge their version of reality. He says the Israeli lobby pulls down anyone ""who disputes the wisdom of its views" and insists on "the substitution of political correctness for analysis, and the exclusion of any and all options for decision by Americans and our government other than those that it favors."
