3rd March 2009 - For Saudi liberals, a ripple of hope in a sea of tradition (IHT)


The IHT suggests that, although King Abdullah's efforts to move the reform process forward will meet stiff resistance, not only from the ultra-conservative religious establishment but also from the large, conservative section of the population, nevertheless, with some 60 percent of the population under 25, and with many of these young people more outward looking, in the longer term more liberalisation is almost certain.
