17th February 2009 - Al Qaeda figure surrenders to Saudi authorities (IHT)

Mohammed al-Awfi, a former detainee in Guantanamo, who subsequently passed through the Saudi rehabilitation program but then joined Al Qaeda in Yemen as Al Qaeda's regional commander, has surrendered to the Saudi authorities. Al-Awfi was on the list of "most wanted" by the Saudi authorities.
