After ex-President Bush's soaring rhetoric about freedom and democracy, the Obama administration is expected to say less and do more. "Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice followed her boss’s 2005 inauguration freedom speech with one of her own, in Cairo a few months later. She called on America’s closest allies in the Arab world, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to embrace democracy by holding fair elections, releasing political prisoners and allowing free expression and rights for women." The Bush approach was exposed as hypocritical when the US refused to accept the voice of the people when Hamas was elected in Gaza. The Obama approach has yet to become clear.
