The most recent Saudi Arabian Middle East peace plan, launched by then Crown Prince now King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at Beirut in 2002, is being revisited and actively promoted by Prince Turki Al Faisal, following reports of Barack Obama's positive comments about the plan in private conversations with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in July. The US Presidentail candidate is reported to have said: "The Israelis must be crazy not to accept that [the Saudi peace plan]."
