16th July 2008 - Saudi king appeals for tolerance (BBC)

When King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia opened an interfaith conference in Madrid, he called on followers of the world's main monotheistic religions to eschew extremism in favour of a spirit of reconciliation. The King declared that the conflicts between religions in human history were caused not by the religions themsleves but by human misinterpetation of distortions of the divine message.

The conference, convened on King Abdullah's initiative, has brought together Muslims, Christians, Jews and Buddhists.
