6th July 2008 - The buck doesn't stop here - it just keeps falling (WP)


The dollar is no longer the world's strongest currency and it will prove difficult in the short term to reverse its slide. Of the current oil price, some $25 dollars ensues not from an increase in the "real" price of oil but from the fact that oil is priced in the weakening dollar. Ameica's efforts to persuade Saudi Arabia to reduce the pressure on the dollar by increasing production have had "scant results."
