In a statement issued by the "Quartet " of major powers responsible for mediating the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, Israel is urged to stop building settlements on Palestinian land and the Palestinians have been urged to "tackle terrorism". In addition, the U.S. has called on Arab countries to honour the pledges they have given to provide financial support for the Palestinians. According to the U.S. only a fifth of the pledged money has been handed over. The only countries to pay money to the Palestinans so far are Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Algeria.
