21st April 2008 - Saudi women 'kept in childhood' (BBC)


According to the New York-based human rights group Human Rights Watch, the 'guardianship' sysyem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is used by men to keep women in "perpetual childhood". While saudi clerics see the guardianship of women's honour as the cornerstone of the country's social order, the human rights group asserts its effect is to deprive women of their basic human rights.
