15th April 2008 - Carter Offers to Be Hamas Go-Between (NYT)


Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has offered to act as a go-between, carrying messages from Hamas to the United States and Israel. His offer has not been well received by either the U.S or Israel but Carter argues that isolating Hamas is not a constructive approach, especially as Hamas is the democratically elected government of Gaza. As part of his Middle East tour, Carter also plans to visit West Bank, Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
