2nd April 2008 - Saudi Ruling Assailed (NYT)

A fatwa calling for the deaths of two Saudi newspaper columnists issued by a respected Saudi cleric, Sheikh Abdul-Rahman al-Barrak, has prompted condemnation from more than 100 Arab human rights groups and intellectuals. The columnists had suggested in articles printed in Saudi newspapers that Christians and Jews should not be considered unbelievers.
