19th March 2008 - Saudi Clerics Back Death Fatwa For Liberal Writers (NYT)

Outraged at articles published in a Riyadh newspaper which seemed to imply that Muslims should be free to follow other religions, Sheikh Abdul-Rahman al-Barrak, one of the Kingdom's most respected clerics, has issued a fatwa against the authors and has urged that they should be put on trial for apostasy.
