On a visit to Iraq, Vice President Dick Cheney expressed the view that the region needs "freedom" if it is to escape from ""stagnation, resentment and violence ready for export."
Cheney then flew to Oman on the next stage of his 10-day Middle East trip which will include visits to Saudi Arabia and Israel.
