Canada hosted the first meeting of the parties to the Kyoto Protocol in Montreal in conjunction with the eleventh session of the conference of the parties to the Climate Change Convention.
The Saudi delegation to the conference was led by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Egn. Ali bin Ibrahim Alnaimi.
The Minister delivered a speech in which he highlighted Saudi efforts to protect the environment and stressed Saudi Arabia's great interest in working with the international community to protect the environment, and at the same time, he asserted that oil and natural gas should not be the victims of these international efforts.
