5th October 2003 - King Fahd orders distribution of 151,660 copies of the Holy Quran

Riyadh, 5th October 2003

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz ordered distribution of 151,660 copies of the Holy Quran within the Kingdom and abroad, the Minster of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, Saleh Al Al-Sheikh announced.

The copies of the Quran are printed at the Madinah-based King Fahd Holy Quran Printing Complex. The copies will be distributed to various government bodies in the Kingdom and a number of Saudi embassies and Islamic societies and centres in other countries.

The Minister said that the copies of the Holy Quran will be provided to the General Secretariat for Special Education at the Education Ministry; Naif Arab Academy for Security Sciences; King Fahd Medical City; the Administration of Mosques and Charitable projects; Saudi Embassies in Egypt and Uganda; two Islamic societies in Togo; an Islamic Institute and a Charitable Society in Ghana, and the Centre of the Custodian of theTwo Holy Mosques in Cameroon.

Al Al-Sheikh reiterated the determination of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to devote its efforts to service of the Holy Quran. He noted that, since its inauguration in 1405AH, the King Fahd Holy Quran Printing Complex has printed over 170 million copies of the Holy Quran and its exegesis in various languages. Al Al-Sheikh said that the meaning of the Holy Quran is published by the Complex in a number of languages, including English, French, Chinese, Russian, Hindi, Persian, Turkish, German, Urdu, Pashto, Tamil, Dutch and Albanian.
