The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh Al Al-Sheikh will inaugurate here on Tuesday a seminar on the role of the Holy Quran in realizing moderation. The seminar is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance within the framework of the activities of King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Contest, currently in progress here.
Speaking on the occasion, Al-Sheikh said the purpose of the seminar is to fight the phenomenon of extremism and fanaticism. 'According to the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah (the Prophet's teachings), Islam is the religion of moderation', he said . Warning against the adverse impact of extremism, Al-Sheikh attributed the causes of extremism to the failure to understand the meaning of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
