The steep rise in food prices is leading farmers to chage their ways. In Egypt, farmers who have in the past grown cotton or fodder for their cows are turning over fields to wheat, rice and corn production to reap the benefits of higher prices. "Egypt has also proposed planting wheat in the fertile lands of neighboring Sudan, a suggestion also made by other Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia.".
