The are no doubt many complex factors affecting ithe oil price, many of them imponderable, but one thing is clear. The high oil price is the only factor helping Britain to reduce its carbon emissions. Since this is so, the appeal from Prime Minister Gordon Brown for Saudi Arabia to increase oil production, thus reducing the price of fuel, is an act of insanity. So, King Abdullah, please ignore his ravings.
