The Organisation of the Islamic conference (OIC) is aiming to devise and agree a modern charter which will consitute a platform for it to promote itself as the true, moderate voice of Islam. With continuing distrust of Islam in the West and resentment against the West in the Middle East, the OIC feels a need to promote increased communication and understanding between all faiths and nations. The OIC includes some of the world's richest countries, such as saudi Arabia, and some of the world's poorest countries, such as Burkina Faso.
