04Mar2008 Canadian, Jordanian Sentenced to Death (NYT)

New York Times, 04 Mar 08

Two men, a Canadian and a Jordanian, have been sentenced to death by a Saudi court for the murder of a Syiran man. The Syrian died in a scuffle outside a school. It seems there is no evidence a weapon was used. "Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed, usually with a sword. Twenty-nine people have been executed in the kingdom so far this year."
