The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has chosen Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz as Crown Prince according to the fifth article of the Basic Law of Government. He has also ordered that all current members of the Cabinet to continue in their posts under his leadership and has appointed Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, as Deputy Premier.
Crown Prince Sultan was born on 5 January, 1930 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He has studied Quran, Arabic and various branches of knowledge.
He has traveled to various parts of the world and has participated in many gatherings.
He was appointed Governor of Riyadh on 22 February, 1947.
He was appointed as member of the Cabinet after he was appointed as Minister of Agriculture on 24 December, 1953.
He was appointed as Minister of Communications on 5 November, 1955.
He was appointed as Minister of Defence and Aviation on 21 October, 1962 and continues to serve in this post.
He was appointed as Second Deputy ppremier on 13 June , 1982.
He chairs several committees, councils and bodies.
He has received medals from a number of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries.
He runs several charities.
