21Jun2005 Two Wanted Terrorists Are Killed, Says Official Source

Jeddah, 21 June 2005

An official source at the Interior Ministry said today that the security investigation of an attack, in which Major Gen. Mubarak Al-Sawat was killed in Makkah on 11/5/1426 AH, resulted in identifying two persons, belonging to a gang, who committed this crime.

"The security forces monitored their car early this morning near Jeddah Governorate. When they were followed by security forces, the terrorists started firing. The security forces responded by counter-fire, which resulted in damage to the terrorists' car. The terrorists then took forcefully a citizen's car and took refuge in a building, which was then surrounded by the security forces. This lead to an exchange of fire and resulted in the deaths of the terrorists.

During the encounter, three security men were injured, with one in critical condition.

A supplementary statement will be issued with more details," the official source said.
