The National Commission of Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD) will observe tomorrow the International Day of Biological Diversity to be held under the title of "Biodiversity: Life Insurance for our Changing World".
On this Occasion, NCWCD's Secretary General Dr. Abdulaziz Abu-Zinadah said: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is making strenuous efforts in the conservation of its bio-diversity."
He added that Saudi Arabia had also signed the International Treaty on Conservation of Biological Diversity under which the 178 signatory countries pledged the prevention of unprecedented loss of bio-diversity.
"The national strategy of conservation of biological diversity is being set and activated with a number of ministries as members under the directives of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation, Inspector General, the Chairman of Board of Directors of NCWCD and the Chairman of the Ministerial Committee of the Environment," said Abu-Zinadah. He pointed out that the NCWCD had made enormous efforts in establishing a number of protectorates and making programs to increase rare and endangered species.
