Saudi Cable Company has said that, in the last few days, the company has won a number of contracts in the market amounting to SR87.56 million, Saudi Gazette quoted Dr Waheeb A. Linjawi, managing director and SCC group president, as saying.
These include a contract signed with an Islamic country for supply of high voltage cables worth SR35.62 million; another with a neighboring country for supply of medium voltage cables worth SR18.75 million; and a third with a North African country for supply of medium/high voltage cables worth SR33.19 million.
He said the flow of orders continues, lending support to the company's plans to increase production capacity to be able to handle large projects with ease so as to bring better returns for the shareholders.
The company held the ordinary general assembly of its shareholders on Wednesday wherein the shareholders got acquainted with the marked growth in the company's performance and approved all the resolutions that were tabled with 100 percent voting in favor.
These include ratification of Dr Waheeb A. Linjawi's appointment as a member of the Board of Directors for the current term and his reappointment for the next three-year term starting September 2005, in order for him to continue with the implementation of the ambitious plans and programs laid down by the Board of Directors; and, to lead the company in its march towards further growth and prosperity.
Meanwhile, The Saudi Electricity Company (SCECO) is expected to present contracting opportunities worth anything between one billion to two billion Saudi riyals this week, Al-Eqtisadiah, the Arabic-language business daily reported Thursday.
Under the banner of "A Strategic Partner for Continuity," the Contractors Committee at the Riyadh Chamber of Industry Commerce will host the conference where senior SCECO officials will meet with contractors.
Officials are expected to present a brief on SCECO's development over the past few decades, the company's bidding procedure and operational benchmarks, upcoming projects that contractors can bid on, and mega investment and project management opportunities.
There are some 2,060 contractors at the chamber.
