14Dec2004 Saudi International Methanol Company begins operations

Jubail, Saudi Arabia, 14th December 2004

The Saudi International Company for Methanol, an affiliate of the Saudi International Company for Petrochemicals, has begun commercial operations of its factory, which has a productive capacity of 2,950 metric tons per day under international standards and specifications.

The Company’s Japanese partner has agreed to market most of the factory’s production. Sixty percent of the Company’s personnel are Saudi citizens.

The International Saudi Company for Methanol is a joint venture between the Saudi International Company for Petrochemicals, which own 65% of the capital, and the Arab-Japanese Company for Methanol, which owns 35%. The Saudi International Company for Petrochemicals is a Saudi stock company, which was established in 1999 with a capital of SR650 million. The Company is concerned with petrochemical and chemical industries, as well as hydro-carbons basic industries.
