An official source at the Interior Ministry said that members of a militant group threw explosives at the gate of the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah at 11:00am Monday 6 December 2004 and then entered the Consulate building.
Security forces immediately responded at the scene, killing three of the assailants and arresting two others who were wounded.
Three of the assailants were killed and two others arrested with injuries. The incident is under investigation by security authorities.
