Head of the General Committee for Municipal Elections Prince Mansour bin Miteb bin Abdul Aziz said that the primary goal of introducing municipal elections in the Kingdom is to enable citizens to contribute to management of municipal affairs.
Prince Mansour said that the General Committee for Municipal Elections had sought the assistance of local and international expertise to prepare the required regulations and statues. “We have sought the assistance of a team from the United Nations and a Saudi consulting authority to undertake studies required for the formulation of election rules and statues,” he said.
Prince Mansour pointed out that 173 municipal councils would be elected throughout the Kingdom via 600 voting centres. He said that the process of voter registration had been completed with ease. He urged all citizens to report to registration centres throughout the Kingdom and to practice their right to vote.
