30Nov2004 Interior Ministers of Iraq’s neighbouring countries meet in Tehran

Tehran, 30th November 2004

The Interior Ministers of Iraq’s neighbouring countries began their conference in Tehran today. The conference includes representatives of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran, Egypt and the United Nations. Interior Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz is leading the Saudi delegation to the conference.

In a speech at the conference, Prince Naif urged all countries to assist Iraq in the establishment of security and stability, which will promote stability for all countries of the region. He stressed the need to unite to combat terrorism by closing borders and preventing terrorist infiltration and by understanding and tackling its root causes. Prince Naif said that Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people represent a source of terrorism incitement. He added that the countries represented at the conference are at the forefront of efforts to combat terrorism.
