The Interior Ministry announced that security forces killed three militants who were armed with guns and hand grenades at a residence in Al-Nahda district, eastern Riyadh, on Tuesday. Seven security officials were injured in the confrontation.
Security forces evacuated seven women and a child from the first floor of the residence, who were to be used by the militants as shields and to mislead the security patrol. The militants were hiding on the second floor of the building.
The security officials had surrounded the residence, suspecting that militants were using it as a hideout. When security forces began searching the house, they came under heavy machine gun fire and were attacked with grenades.
The security officials found weapons and documents in the house.
