Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland Prince Turki Al-Faisal reiterated Kingdom’s condemnation of all forms of terrorism and its determination to combat the dangerous international phenomenon, which threatens global peace and security.
In a speech delivered at the Middle East Affairs Council of the British Conservative Party, currently holding its annual conference in southern England, Prince Turki noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been determinedly fighting against terrorism since before the 9/11 attacks, and will continue its efforts to uproot and eradicate terrorism.
He said that terrorism is abhorrent to all peoples and governments, including Saudi and British, Muslim and Christian.
Rejecting charges of Western media that Saudi Arabians are conspirators, supporters and financiers of terrorist groups, Prince Turki Al-Faisal said that the charges are fabricated.
He noted that the Kingdom has implemented many laws to eradicate sources of terrorism, and called for united, international efforts to combat terrorism.
The Saudi government is implementing political and economic reform, including measures for municipal elections that will take place for the first time early next year, the Prince said. He added that Saudi Arabia tends towards informational openness, in television, broadcasting and journalism.
He urged the international community to seek a resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the Arab peace plan, affirming the Kingdom’s support for the Palestinian and Iraqi peoples.
