Riyadh, 27th September 2004

A meeting took place today at the Interior Ministry headquarters in Riyadh between members of the Saudi and the U.S. security delegations overseeing the case of Saudi detainees at Guantanamo Bay and lawyers of the detainees. The meeting discussed recent developments in the cases of Saudi detainees.

Among the issues discussed were the findings of exchange visits between the Saudi security delegation and Saudi lawyers and the relevant U.S. authorities.

The Saudi delegation, which includes government officials and private advocates, plans to meet with U.S. officials in charge of the issue during future visits to the U.S. to secure the release of Saudi detainees, extradite them to the Kingdom or send them to appear before U.S. justice.

The meeting reflects the strenuous efforts exerted by Saudi leadership to serve citizens and resolve the Guantanamo ordeal.
