The Saudi-German Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation today commenced its 15th session under the co-chairmanship of Saudi Finance Minister Dr Ibrahim Al-Assaf and German Minister of Economy and Labour Dr Wolfgang Clement.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr Al-Assaf expressed the Kingdom’s desire to boost economic ties with Germany in all fields, noting that some agreements and initiatives would be signed between the two countries during the current session.
The German Minister praised the effective role of the Kingdom in the international economic arena, particularly in stabilising the oil market.
At a joint press conference, Dr Al-Assaf denied press reports that many foreign companies had left the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for other Gulf States due to fears of terrorist attacks. He noted that six million foreign workers remain employed in the Kingdom. The German Minister praised Saudi efforts in the war against terrorism.
