14Jul2004 Saudi-Ukraine Joint Commission concludes first session

The first session for the Saudi-Ukraine joint commission on Wednesday concluded its deliberations under the co-chairmanship of Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr Hashim Yamani and Ukraine Minister of Economy Mykola Derkach.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Yamani said that the Saudi and Ukraine sides had reiterated the importance of boosting trade exchange between the two countries, and underscored the importance of organizing exhibitions, seminars and workshops, the exchange of visits between Saudi and Ukraine businessmen, and joint investment projects.

Dr Yamani noted that the two sides had agreed to cooperate in science, technology, telecommunications, shipping, energy, petroleum and gas fields and to establish a council for Saudi and Ukraine businessmen for the promotion of economic relations. The two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in educational, cultural and information spheres.

Mykola Derkach said that the meetings of the joint commission had yielded positive results, and hoped that the proposed council for Saudi and Ukraine businessmen would positively contribute to boosting economic relations between the two countries.
