Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, emphasized the need for “fruitful cooperation” between scientific research organizations in Arab countries.

In an address presented by Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz at a seminar on scientific research and technological development in the Arab world, the Crown Prince noted the Kingdom’s twenty-year national plan for development of science and technology. “We hope that the plan will realize the hopes and aspirations of the Kingdom’s leadership and people,” he said.

The three-day seminar is organized by the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology in association with the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF).

In his speech, Dr Saleh Bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Athel, President of KACST, said that the seminar would promote the exchange of views between Arab scientists and experts to promote development.

Dr Ali Al-Shamlan, Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, said that scientific progress was a vital necessity to reduce the gap between the Arab world and developed countries. “These meetings will promote consultation between Arab scientists within Arab countries and the rest of the world to boost the Arab world’s advance in science and technology fields,” he said.
