South Korea’s Acting President and Premier, Ko Kon, today met with Saudi Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, who is currently on a visit to South Korea.
During the meeting, Al-Naimi conveyed the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier to the Acting President, who in turn sent his greetings to the Saudi leadership.
Al-Naimi also met with South Korea’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Yi Hui-Pom, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pan Ki-Mun.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the meetings, Al-Naimi noted that South Korea is an important trading partner of the Kingdom and ranks third of the biggest Saudi oil importing countries, following the United States of America and Japan. Saudi oil exports to Korea exceed 700,000 barrels per day. Al-Naimi added that Saudi Aramco owns 35% of Korean S. Oil Company, which refines 570,000 barrels of Saudi oil per day for local consumption and exportation. The Minister noted that he also discussed with Korean officials cooperation in the field of mining.
Later today, Al-Naimi left Seoul for Japan.
