Casablanca, Morocco, 6th April 2004

Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Mousa expressed his appreciation to Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, for his constant support of the Arab League and Arab cooperation.

In a statement following a meeting with the Crown Prince yesterday, Mousa said that they had discussed issues pertaining to the Arab Summit and the necessity of promoting effective Arab cooperation. Mousa noted that a timeframe and agenda for the Summit has been endorsed.

Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal said that the proposals submitted by Saudi Arabia were also submitted by Egypt and Syria. “We have participated in comprehensive discussions on these proposals over a two-year period before their final formulation; the proposals focus on enhancing the seriousness and credibility of joint Arab work,” he noted. Prince Saud denied that the above proposals were the cause of postponement of the Tunis Arab Summit.
