27Mar2004 MEPA official hails Arab cooperation to protect environment

Jeddah, 27th March 2004

Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdul Aziz, President of Meteorology and Environmental Protection Administration (MEPA), participated in a recent seminar held in Tokyo on Japan’s experience in environmental management.

In an address at the seminar, Prince Turki bin Nasser highlighted cooperation among Arab countries for resolution of environmental problems and to promote environmental protection, citing the Arab initiative for sustainable development presented at the Johannesburg international conference on sustainable development in September 2003.

Prince Turki bin Nasser noted that Arab countries are exploring means of enhancing cooperation with Japan in the field of training and transference of technology, including systems for remote-sensing, geographic information, water desalination and the management of water resources. He said that the seminar would promote strengthened Arab-Japanese relations.
