President Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland arrived here on Saturday on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The President was received at Riyadh Airport by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, and a number of officials.
In a statement published in Al-Riyadh newspaper on Saturday, Kwasniewski said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of its most important partners in the Arab world. “We have good relations with the Kingdom in political, economic, military and other spheres,” he said.
The Polish President noted that Poland was one of the first countries that recognized the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1929. He said that establishment of the Saudi Embassy in Poland would enhance bilateral relations. The President said that the Kingdom has a significant partnership with Poland, particularly in promoting Poland’s political cooperation with other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Kwasniewski reiterated the keenness of Poland to enhance economic cooperation with the Kingdom, and urged the Saudi investors to invest their capital in Poland. He said that Poland is embarking on the process of privatising energy, petrochemicals and telecommunications projects. The delegation of Polish businessmen accompanying the President held talks with their Saudi counterparts to review issues of mutual interest.
