29Feb2004 SAA launches automatic boarding-pass system

Jeddah, 29th February 2004

Dr Khaled bin Bakr, Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA), yesterday launched SAA’s automatic boarding-pass system at King Abdul Aziz Airport in Jeddah. The system will be made available at Riyadh, Dammam and Madinah airports imminently.

“All passengers travelling on domestic flights will now be able to get their boarding passes without waiting at counters or approaching staff,” Dr Bin-Bakr said. Eight thousand passengers already used the system during its trial phase over the past ten days.

The facility will be available in Riyadh next month. Passengers travelling from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and Prince Muhammad Airport in Madinah will be able to use the service within a few months.

Four machines have been installed in Jeddah. There will also be four machines in Riyadh, Dammam and Madinah, the number of which will be increased at a later stage.
