The Royal Court today issued the following statement:
”In accordance with the teachings of the Sharia, which call upon Muslims to help their fellow Muslims in need, to remove all flaws that may obstruct Saudi charitable work and tarnish its reputation, the Saudi government has decided to establish an agency to oversee all charitable donations distributed abroad.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz issued royal order number A/1, dated 6/1/1425H, to approve the creation of the Saudi Non-Governmental Commission for Relief and Charity Work Abroad.
The royal order stated that the task of forming and administering the Commission will be carried out by a selected group of citizens with experience, expertise and a high-reputation in the field of charity and humanitarian works. The royal order charged the Commission exclusively with charity and relief work abroad.
The Commission will make further announcements on how it is to operate over forthcoming weeks.”
