Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region, on Sunday patronized a session of the second Saudi-Lebanese Forum, in the presence of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. The Forum is organized by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Group of Economy and Business, the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon, and the Saudi-Lebanese Council of Businessmen.
Prince Salman was welcomed by Abdulrahman Al-Jeraisey, Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Directors and Adnan Al-Kassar, Chairman of the Lebanese Federation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prince Salman praised the organisers of the Forum, saying that it will positively contribute to enhancing cooperation between Saudi and Lebanese businessmen. “As excellent relations exist between the Kingdom and Lebanon, it will be possible for businessmen in the two countries to enhance their cooperation,” he said.
Prince Salman stressed the importance of Arab cooperation to promote mutual interests. He noted that the Kingdom and Lebanon have adopted the policy of free enterprise, and encourage Saudi-Lebanese cooperation and integration. He expressed his hope that the Forum would yield positive results, and said that the third Saudi-Lebanese Forum will be held in Beirut next year.
Al-Jeraisey said that the policy of economic reform in the Kingdom and Lebanon reflects the keenness of the two countries to meet local and international economic changes, particularly the phenomenon of globalisation. “A genuine Saudi-Lebanese partnership constitutes an important challenge for the Forum, which is attended by a number of experts and businessmen,” he said.
Adnan Al-Kassar emphasised the importance of the Forum, saying that it constitutes an important economic event for both countries. He highlighted aspects of existing economic and investment cooperation between the Kingdom and Lebanon, and said that the Saudi-Lebanese Business Council, established in 2001, has played a positive role in further cementing Saudi-Lebanese economic relations.
