19Feb2004 Prince Salman opens Al-Thimamah Park

Riyadh, 19th February 2004

Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region, today patronized the opening ceremony of phase one of Al-Thimamah Park on the outskirts of Riyadh city.

Upon arrival at the venue, Prince Salman was received by senior officials of the Riyadh Development Authority, which is supervising the project. He then unveiled the plaque and toured the fifty-tent facility, while he was briefed on the project’s works. Princes, ministers, a number of officials, businessmen and media representatives attended the event.

The park’s designers plan to build fourteen entertainment facilities, an open zoo, tents for families, an expedition centre for youths, a racetrack for cars, a museum, and an aviation club.

Investment projects at the park, which will be implemented by the private sector, will amount to a sum exceeding SR2.5 billion. The government will undertake construction of the project’s infrastructure, at a cost of SR100 million.
