14Feb2004 Prince Salman patronises inaugural ceremony for SABIC expansion

Riyadh, 14th February 2004

Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region today patronized the inaugural ceremony of the expansion of SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation) Industrial Complex for Research and Development.

Upon arrival, Prince Salman was received by Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayyan Al-Saud, the Chairman of Jubail and Yanbu Royal Commission and Chairman of SABIC Board of Directors, and other officials.

In a speech on the occasion, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayyan expressed thanks and appreciation to Prince Salman for his continual support of SABIC and its projects. He noted that SABIC ranked 11th on the list of the largest petrochemical companies worldwide, and expressed his hope that it will become one of the five largest.

In recognition of Prince Salman’s pioneering role in support of charitable projects, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayyan announced SABIC’s contribution of iron, worth SR1 million, to the Prince Salman Project for Charitable Housing, SR1 million to a project of the Children’s Society of Handicapped, and SR1 million to Prince Fahd bin Salman Charitable Society for the Care of Kidney Failure Patients.
