05Feb2004 Higher Ulema Council adopts resolution to develop Jamrat area

Makkah, 5th February 2004

The Higher Ulema (religious scholars) Council today adopted a resolution to develop Jamarat area to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

In an announcement following an emergency session, the Council said that it adopted the resolution in the light of a directive issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz to study the issue and to implement a resolution within the framework of the Islamic Sharia in order to protect the lives of pilgrims.
